Do you allow pets?
We love our pets, however do not allow pets in Manatee Bungalow. We want to ensure that all guests have the best experience, and want to be especially considerate of those guests who may suffer from allergies.
Do you offer outdoor toys?
Yes! We provide 2 kayaks for guest use, max weight capacity of 225 pounds. When using the kayaks, you must wear a coast guard approved life vest. We also provide cornhole boards. If you would like to rent bicycles, or need additional kayaks, Bike Marathon delivers and offers excellent service.
How are you responding to Covid-19?
Key Colony Beach and Monroe County have done an excellent job implementing safety measures to protect citizens and visitors as much as possible from Covid-19. Masks are mandatory, as is social distancing in restaurants and other locations. Manatee Bungalow is professionally cleaned and sanitized after each visitor, and a bottle of hand sanitizer is provided for your convenience. Manatee Bungalow is a single family home with its own yard and outdoor space, which allows as much distance from others as you like. Unlike a duplex, you have your own dock, yard, driveway and home.
Do you have good WIFI?
With much of the world working or going to school online, we made a point to have good fast reliable internet installed in our home. We have 100 MB Xfinity WIFI, which has the speed to run the HULU/smart TV's, as well as the devices used by most people (smart phones, ipads, laptops, Zoom, Facetime, Google, etc.)
What is your cancellation policy?
Up until 60 days prior to your arrival date, your deposits and rent are fully refundable. After the 60 day deadline passes, you may cancel, however we will only refund your money if another reservation takes your place. Note: If you book through AirBnB, they have their own cancellation terms that will be defined in the listing. It is always best to purchase trip insurance that covers sickness or other issues that may arise and cause you to need to cancel. If the Keys were to close due to Covid, or a mandatory evacuation occur due to Covid inside the 60 days or during your stay, you would be refunded any funds not used or you could apply them to a stay at a later time.
Are the Keys open?
Yes. The Keys opened back up on June 1st, 2020. There are no indications that another closure will occur. Tourists are welcome in the Keys!
Are there boat ramps available?
Yes. There are public boat ramps on Marathon, including one next to Island Fish Company near MM 54 on the gulf side, and one at 33rd Street, also on the gulf side. There are other private ramps that may be used for a fee. There are no public boat ramps inside KCB.
Is Manatee Bungalow's canal and dock good for boating?
Yes. Our canal is nearly 200 feet wide, and offers deep water access directly to our dock. We are in a no wake zone, as are all canals inside KCB. Our dock area is lighted, and features bumpers, cleats, water, electricity, fish cleaning table, and a swim ladder. You will have your own dedicated slip that is 35 feet long, and will accommodate a larger boat up to 50 feet with the unique boat slip design. We have double slips, however the slip with the boat lift is for owner use only.
Can we rent a boat nearby?
Yes. There are lots of rental boat places nearby, including Marathon, Coco Plum and many other locations. A quick search online will give you locations, inventory, pricing and more. Many locals recommend Coco's boat rentals.
Is there information inside MB on local restaurants and attractions?
Yes. MB has a blue 3 ring notebook that is full of information. For example, menus, kayak rentals, local attractions, fish guides, TV instructions, WIFI instructions, local regulations, house rules and more! KCB has 5 restaurants on the island, with more coming!
Is there a washer/dryer?
Yes. We have a full size washing machine and dryer. We also have a full sized laundry room with shelves, that is inside the unit. (not outside like many Keys' homes)
Is Key Colony Beach safe?
KCB statistically is a low crime area. The police department is at the end of 7th Street, and the police boat is kept at the end of our canal. Always secure your valuables no matter where you stay.
What do we need to bring?
We provide a roll of toilet paper per bathroom, individually wrapped, and a small soap. You will need to bring extra TP, paper towels, etc. and any other implements you like to use during your stay. Please do bring your own food, extra paper products and personal items. Manatee Bungalow provides a fully stocked kitchen, linens, beach towels, and bath towels. We also have an unstocked bait freezer for your usage. We offer a full size washer and dryer but do not supply detergent. We do not supply dishwasher pods, but other guests often leave those and dish washing liquid behind.
Is KCB a quiet and peaceful place?
Yes, it is the perfect mix of activity and the relaxed peaceful island vibe. There are ordinances regarding noise, so KCB is not where you would want to go for loud parties. Manatee Bungalow has homeowners on each side, too so all guests are expected to comply with noise ordinances and be respectful of the neighbors.
Is Cabana Club included with our rental?
Yes! Prior to your arrival, your names will be given to Cabana Club staff. You will check in at the window upon arrival at the club. Your whole party can use the club. There is information on Cabana Club in the blue notebook, and available on their Facebook page. Masks are mandatory at Cabana Club when entering, and when moving around the club (not in the pool, ocean or seated), going into the bar, and snack shop.
Are there playgrounds and activities nearby?
Yes, many right across the street. Check out our recreation page for more information on exactly what KCB and Manatee Bungalow have to offer.
